F John MillsF. John Mills, M.D., PhD., Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board

Dr. F. John Mills sets the strategic direction, quality standards and client service values that position BioStorage Technologies as the premier biorepository in the industry. This vision is grounded in years of practical experience managing global responsibilities for clinical research management and support services.

Prior to his role at BioStorage Technologies, Dr. Mills served as corporate senior vice president and president of clinical support services from 1998 to 2001 for Covance, Inc. (NYSE: CVD), a leading contract research organization headquartered in Princeton, N.J. While at Covance, Dr. Mills was responsible for a $300 million-a-year clinical services division that employed more than 2,000 staff members globally. This group included Covance’s central laboratory operations in the United States, Europe, Australia, Singapore and South Africa, as well as clinical trial packaging facilities in the United States and Europe. From 1991 to 1997, Dr. Mills was based in the United Kingdom as corporate vice president for Covance’s European clinical division and oversaw operations in a dozen European countries. Prior to his career with Covance, Dr. Mills held senior positions in Asia and Europe with Janssen Pharmaceutica, a division of Johnson & Johnson, Inc. His broad range of expertise includes extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical development.

Dr. Mills received his medical degree from Cambridge University and his doctorate in endocrinology from Surrey University in the United Kingdom. He holds diplomas in pharmaceutical medicine, aviation medicine and marketing and has authored more than 40 scientific papers as well as a textbook on aviation medicine.

Mike AlleyMike Alley

Mike Alley is the owner of Patriot Investments, LLC, through which he conducts an array of business consulting and investment initiatives. He also is the owner of electronic evolutions, Inc., one of the nation’s leading custom designers and installers of consumer electronics, media and control devices in residential and commercial environments. Alley has remained active in numerous business and civic activities since his retirement in 2002 from Fifth Third Bank of Central Indiana, an affiliate of Fifth Third Bancorp, where he served as president and chief executive officer.

While leading Fifth Third Bank, Alley significantly increased the financial institution’s presence in Indiana from 1989 through 2002. He spearheaded the organization’s strategic growth through the acquisition of The New Palestine Bank to acquire more than $4.8 billion in assets and establish the largest state-chartered bank in Indiana.

Alley joined Fifth Third Bancorp in 1985 as vice president and city executive for Dayton, Ohio. Prior to joining the bank, he worked for Bank of America in Austin, Texas, and for KPMG, LLC in Cincinnati, Ohio. Alley graduated magna cum laude from Indiana State University and is a certified public accountant.

Alley remains very active in civic and community activities and currently serves on numerous boards including Crossroads of America Council, Boy Scouts of America, Community Health Network of Indiana, The Indiana Heart Hospital, Indiana State University, The Indy Partnership, Indianapolis Zoological Society, Highland Golf and Country Club and the United Way of Central Indiana. He also is on several corporate boards including AAA Hoosier Motor Club; Fifth Third Bank, Indiana; Golden Rule Insurance Company; Leaf Partners, LLC; Griner Engineering, Inc.; and G & A Foods, Inc.

Ron HenriksenRon Henriksen

Ron Henriksen is the chief investment officer of Twilight Venture Partners, a life science venture capital company based in Indianapolis. Previously, he served as president of Indiana University’s Advanced Research and Technology Institute; CEO of Itasca Ventures, a Minneapolis life sciences incubator; and president of Khepri Pharmaceuticals, a San Francisco biotechnology company.

Henriksen served for 23 years at Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) in a variety of management positions. During his time at Eli Lilly, he helped initiate the company’s transition into biotechnology through a pioneering research collaboration with Genentech. From 1983 through 1993, Henriksen held key responsibilities in the acquisition of 10 strategic businesses. He also was responsible for more than $100 million in 26 venture investments, producing an internal rate of return (IRR) of 18 percent and participating in four cutting-edge life science venture capital funds with greater than 13 percent IRR.

Henriksen currently serves on the boards of CyberLearning Labs and Revaax Pharmaceuticals, both based in Indiana, as well as on the boards of Neuromed Technologies and QLT, Inc., based in Vancouver, B.C., and MacroPore Biosurgery, located in San Diego. Henriksen holds a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University. He also served in the U.S. Navy as an officer on destroyers and cruisers.

David MannDavid Mann

David Mann is a co-founder and general partner of Spring Mill Venture Partners, a venture capital firm focused on early stage, high-growth life science and information technology investments. Previously, Mann worked with ServiceMaster Ventures, a corporate venture group. He was a founding member of the ServiceMaster Home Service Center (formerly WeServeHomes), a joint venture between Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and ServiceMaster, in which he held operations and sales roles. Additionally, Mann served as assistant to the chief executive officer of INVESCO, a leading investment management firm.

Mann began his career in the U.S. Navy where he held various leadership positions that encompassed information systems, business operations, logistics and service as a White House liaison. He currently serves on the boards of Cine-tal Systems, Indiana University Liberal Arts and Management Program, International Kidney Stone Institute, TechPoint Political Action Committee and the Venture Club of Indiana. Mann also is an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University Kelley School of Business (Indianapolis). He received his master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis.


George M Milne
George M. Milne, Jr., Ph.D.

Dr. George M. Milne is a Venture Partner at Radius Ventures and the former executive vice president of Research and Development at Pfizer, Inc., where he also served as president of Worldwide Strategic and Operations Management. From 1993 to 2000, Dr. Milne served as president of Pfizer Central Research with global responsibility for human and veterinary research and development.

Dr. Milne serves on the boards of Aspreva Pharmaceuticals Corporation, Athersys, Inc., Charles River Laboratories, Inc., MedImmune, Inc., Mettler-Toledo, Inc., Rib-X Pharmaceuticals, Inc., the Mystic Aquarium-Institute for Exploration and the New York Botanical Garden. He received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Yale University.

Arthur H SpiegelArthur H. Spiegel, III

Arthur Spiegel is a member of Radius Ventures’ Advisory Board. He is the former president of CSC Healthcare, which he is credited with developing into one of the nation’s leading healthcare IT providers that delivers management consulting, systems integration, full-service IT outsourcing and claims processing systems and services to the life sciences, health plan and provider markets. Previously, Spiegel was founder and president of APM, Inc., the nation’s largest management consulting firm dedicated exclusively to the healthcare industry. He also served in top management capacities for the City of New York and was one of the early leaders of ACCION International, a community development program.

Spiegel currently serves on the board of directors of Eye-Tel Imaging, Inc., has served on numerous for-profit and not-for-profit boards and has been published in leading journals. Spiegel earned a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University.
